YOUR FUTURE GOVERNOR

Hi, Ohio River Valley! My name is Sara Alsammerai (yes, it's actually pronounced Al-Samurai) and I'm ecstatic to say that I am running to be your next Governor! Nothing brings me more joy than the Junior State of America–although chocolate is an extremely close second. I'm thankful that you are taking time out of your busy days to learn more about me and what I stand for. I have had many opportunities to see the successes and failures of JSA on a national, state, and chapter level. It has opened up my eyes to more than I could have ever imagined going into high school. It's time for me to repay JSA, and I hope that the work I plan to do as Governor is enough to cover it all, and then some.

Thank you for joining me on this great journey. Next year, if elected Governor, I promise to commit my utmost efforts all to JSA. I understand that JSA will come first for me as Governor, and if that means I will need to retract myself from my other extracurricular activities, then I am not afraid to step back and focus on JSA above all.

“Originally, I joined JSA because I knew nothing about politics. I enjoyed the fake charisma of politicians, the enticed elections that took place during November, and the bustling political club that is D.C.; but I didn’t understand the near half of it. Before I entered my freshman year, I decided I would give JSA a chance because I stumbled on our chapters aesthetically pleasing Instagram. I can count on one hand the number of chapter meetings that pulled me into JSA, and I can count on an even lesser amount of hours than that which I used to stress to my parents why I wanted to go to the first convention of the year. It became imminent to me that my first convention would not be my last. Gladly, I continued to pursue JSA because it finally taught me not only the finer details of our political environment that I was looking for, but also because JSA allowed me to see the leader in me that originally I had put down. I didn't know anything about politics before JSA because I didn't think anyone would ever ask for my opinion on issues. Now, people are awestruck at the fact that I'm immersed in such an organization.”
